Ecology, Technology & Society - Emerging Trends Analyst, Researcher, Writer
Welcome to my profile. I am an "ecology, technology & society" generalist. I have both deep and broad knowledge of emerging ecological, technological and social trends (and their intersections). One example: I am familiar with various forms of sensor-intensive agriculture and ecological monitoring (ecoinformatics) and how citizen science groups in the bay area are using these systems to protect wildlife. Another example: I am familiar with an internet subculture of people who 'sleep' next to each other, but in VR. I'm deeply curious about these fields (both at the level of policy and street culture), I research them extensively in my own time and I have a large group of contacts who feed me content in these areas. I also have a record of producing content in these areas. I was awarded an Eyebeam/Buzzfeed Fellowship (100K grant) to research (a.) social listening tools, (b.) changes in SF street culture due to big tech investment and prototype (c.) more NGO-friendly tools for social listening and responsiveness. I do a lot of work in artistic life both as a science fiction writer and as a creative technology, which deeply ties me into these trends and gives me a hands-on perspective with many of them. I'm excited to get to know your organization and find ways that we can work together.
