Bastian Fischer - Mind the Bump

I am an awarded filmmaker and photographer with over 14 years of experience in the audiovisual field. My passion for stories started in childhood and my career begun at Hogeschool Gent with a Masters degree in Photography. I have collaborated with major brands such as BMW, MINI, Universal Music, and with prestigious media outlets including TAZ, Der Spiegel, VICE and others.

My belief in positively transforming society by means of audiovisual communication has led me to cooperations with international NGOs like Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), WWF Greece, Première Urgence Internationale, The A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, and more.
For the same reason, I started my post-graduate study of Sustainable Management at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany.

My film and video portfolio includes feature documentaries, short films, music videos, journalistic pieces, and corporate communication, always with a strong focus on storytelling and a dynamic exploration of the various layers of a narrative. With this in mind, making my subjects feel comfortable in any given situation is essential in unlocking the full potential of any given story and in achieving the authenticity I strive for - for my clients as well as for myself.

The same vision builds the backbone of my photographic work. Reportage and portraiture photography allow me to get close to my subjects and satisfy my curiosity in the world and people in general. This curiosity and interest allow me to bridge over and create moments of sincere exchange and presence.

And, finally, my years as a visual professional have provided me with the valuable knowledge of a client's requirements beyond the technical aspect of video and photo production: availability, clear communication, dependability, and fast turnarounds - throughout the entire length of a collaboration.

For bigger productions, especially in the field of NGO communications, I founded the creative collective Mind the Bump. It operates predominantly in Germany and Greece.
