Bill Cole

Editor, Writer

Award-winning writer of fiction for a variety of magazines and op-ed guest columnist for major regional newspapers

I am a freelance writer who has been a guest op-ed columnist for the Star-Ledger, New Jersey's most circulated newspaper, for the last several years and have written numerous topical articles on education and politics. An excerpted quote of mine from one of my articles was used in a national ad campaign by the National Education Association.

I have had an award-winning story appear in the iconic Highlights for Children Magazine, which was later published as an audiobook. An excerpted image from that story was featured in the critically-acclaimed film documentary 44 Pages. I have twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for my short fiction, one of which was made into a podcast.

My areas of expertise include education, child development, jazz and rock music, the social sciences and general contemporary social and political issues. I am a practicing school psychologist, an adjunct professor of developmental psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University and a frequent presenter at various education and mental health-related conferences. Additionally, I have taught in China and participated in a fellowship through the National Endowment for the Humanities in which I did extensive study on the roots of the Arab Spring.
