As I've been a developer for many years, I am a beast of a tech writer. Normally I write for software/web dev shops for anything from articles on SEO, case studies, emails for holiday pushes, etc. I've written for Sony, Samsung, Nortel and other enterprises.
With tech writing or fiction, I do have a secret sauce. Humor. When I write user guides, the users RTFM and even share the content. Humor and/or brand stories are crucial for your site's traffic.
