Cathy is an 8th grade biology teacher, science department chair, and lead teacher at Farragut Middle School in Knoxville, Tennessee. She has 16 years of education experience including teaching high school biology, anatomy, and middle grades science. She has experience writing education articles and creating education infographics. She has also served as a school-wide PLC/data coach while concurrently teaching. In this role, she worked with all middle grades and core subject areas to implement Marzano research on best-functioning PLCs within the school building. She has additional expertise in classroom and school-wide data analysis, Advanc-ed accreditation and Advanc-ed STEM certification, problem-based learning, and curriculum development. Additionally, Cathy serves a science reviewer for EdReports.org, an independent non-profit designed to improve education by supporting reviews of K-12 education materials. Cathy has an Ed.S. in Education Administration from the University of Tennessee, a M.A.T. in Science Education and B.A. in biology from Boston University.
