Charlene Shirk is a nationally award winning and Emmy nominated writer and the Creative Director and Founder of C. Shirk Productions and CSPR – Charlene Shirk Public Relations. Charlene has more than two decades of marketing, cause marketing and public relations experience and no one on the First Coast is more connected to local media, the community and area influencers than Charlene.
Charlene is known throughout the First Coast as the former friendly face of the weekend morning and evening newscasts on First Coast News, the NBC and ABC affiliate in Jacksonville. After leaving the news desk, she was the original host of the popular magazine lifestyle show First Coast Living and continues to make regular appearances as a guest segment interviewer. She also served as a rotating moderator on The Chat – an exciting and engaging live local talk show previously on ABC.
Prior to starting her own company, Charlene was handpicked in 2007, to be the first Director of Community Relations for THE PLAYERS Championship at the PGA TOUR, headquartered in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Charlene’s expertise served to expand media coverage of the TOUR’s premier event, also dubbed the 5th Major, beyond tournament week into millions of dollars of brand exposure throughout the calendar year. Charlene helped direct unique initiatives that were implemented at tournaments across the country and were part of a successful marketing strategy to increase ticket and corporate hospitality sales.
Charlene has been recognized several times over for her community involvement and excellence in journalism both on a local and national level. She was selected as a 40 Under 40 by the Jacksonville Business Journal, named “The Most Crush-Worthy Female by readers of The Florida Times-Union and Folio Magazine voted her as the area’s “Best Pitchwoman” and for having the “Best Hairdo in Town”.
On a more serious note, Charlene has received the Gabrielle Award, sponsored by the Catholic Communicators in radio and television, the Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and a regional Emmy nomination from the National Academy of Television Arts.
Charlene previously served as the Community Outreach and Public Relations Chair on the board of Blessings in a Backpack and is an alumna of Leadership Jacksonville, Class of 2015.
