Cheryl Oberlin

Cheryl Oberlin lives in a world where the sun is always shining bright. Tiki Bar music plays, purple tulips grow wild, and her husband, the cabana boy, refreshes her Rae Dunn coffee mug every hour. Well, two out of the three anyway! She's a dreamer, a positivist, and an educator.

As a freelance writer, her work is featured in marketing communications of Fortune 100 companies, higher education institutions, and non-profit organizations. She enjoys teaching writing to undergraduate students using real-world, relatable sources (think novels, podcasts, TEDx talks, sports commercials) instead of stuffy, dull textbooks.

She is a recovering academic letter collector (her kids enrolled her in their targeted 12-step career recovery program). Initially, she failed out of the University of Florida with a 1.5 GPA as a freshman but still bleeds orange and blue. She went on to earn a B.A. in mass communications, an M.A. in English, composition, and rhetoric, an M.B.A. in project management, M.Ed. in instructional design and technology for adult education, and a master's certificate in project management from George Washingon University.

When she's not writing, she listens to positive vibes, podcasts, and audiobooks. She serves as a volunteer career coach for teachers fleeing public education for the corporate world. Her family is heavily invested in real estate development on their MondayPit Island in Animal Crossing. She lives in Maineville, OH, just minutes from Kings Island Amusement Park with her husband, youngest son, two dogs, and a cat.
