Hello, my name is Christine, and I would like to introduce myself in this short bio. I was born in Walsall, Staffordshire in the UK (the Midlands) and have been living and working in New York City for more than forty years. Now, I consider myself to be a New Yorker. I originally came here from London where I was working for the First National Bank of Boston. This piqued my curiosity about the US, and I decided to come here and check it out. I now have dual citizenship.
In the full-time working world, I was a trademark paralegal for many years. Prior to that I have been a legal secretary, a secretary to a board of directors (a job which included arranging board meetings all around the country), and the office manager of a startup software company. I am now retired, and several years ago looked around for some way to supplement my retirement income. I have written blog posts over the past nine years for a number of internet writing platforms and have been working for Time etc. for three years. During my “time” with Time, I have worked on a variety of tasks, including marketing campaign projects, making arrangements for participants to attend conferences, researching for clients on a variety of subjects, and writing blog posts and articles. I have a BA in English Literature from Leeds University in England. Over the years, I have taken courses at the American Institute of Banking in international banking operations, economics, and accounting, and courses at the Universities of Notre Dame and Delaware in trade association management.
My interests include hiking and backpacking. I am a hiking and backpacking leader for the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) and ex-Chair of the AMC NY/NoJ Backpacking Committee. I teach lightweight backpacking seminars and backpacking leadership workshops, and have written many articles for our AMC chapter’s newsletter. My other loves are natural history; classical music; reading; my two cats; and the stock market and stock options trading. And, I shouldn’t forget the Park Slope Food Coop in Brooklyn, NY.
