I was a closet writer for as long as I could remember. I had numerous, unpublished works of fiction no has ever read. There was certainly no intention to make a job of a beloved hobby. I wanted to keep it for myself.
A few years ago, that all changed. I worked as a heavy equipment operator in a manufacturing plant. I was also a safety team owner. The plant manager approached me about a project of needing someone to create a plant wide newsletter every month.
I finally decided now was the time to delight the public with my ability to transform boring safety topics to relatable content with a side dish of humor. It was a hit. Corporate enjoyed it as much as our regional safety manager. For the first time in my life, my name was common among the higher tier working class.
I'll never forget the look on the Management's face as I laid my first newsletter on their desk for quality inspection. As their mouth dropped in awe, I turned away blushing knowing it was no big deal. I was, then, the newsletter owner/creator/and content manager of my very own publication which stayed in print and circulation for three years. That moment will always be my motivation along with their question, "why are you not writing professionally".
I decided to become a stay-at-home mom after my daughter was born. I have two parents who are not in great shape as well. Most of my days are spent adoring my mini me and making sure my parents and family are taken care of. My nights are spent being lost in all the ways you can rearrange the 26 letters of the English language.
