Writer

A well versed, traveled, and thoughtful writer with experiences in modern business culture.

I am a business professional who loves to write. In my work, I have written many training materials, guides, white papers, and internal SOP's (standard operating procedures) and other documents. In my spare time, I write articles on topics that surround my profession of People, Culture, and Diversity. Those articles have been published on LinkedIn, and the Business Transformation Network (BTN). I love to help someone tell a story, explain a need or tool, and guide others to learn through the written word.

THE VENDOR RELATIONSHIP: AN INSIGHT INTO COMPANY CULTURE? (An article for #candidates...& you?)

As HR and Talent Recruitment professionals, we sometimes have the opportunity to sit on “both sides of the fence” – in the business, and as a vendor. Such is the case with my own career and many of those in my network. This is also the case for many of the corporate functions across the ecosystem; especially within Technology, eCommerce, Marketing & Creative, and Operations.

AI’s future impact in Talent Management Programs

Why is there still a fair amount of resistance to the idea of AI coming into the workplace? It may be that some feel the human element could be lost, or that AI might replace more people. I have uncovered lately though, that slowly but surely, AI is now being looked at through a microscope for People teams and in Talent Management planning, and this is a perfect thing.

The Evolution of Employee Engagement: A shift to Employee Experiences by Jackson David

Game Night? Water Cooler Derby? Ropes Course? Volunteer event at the #RSPCA? Whatever the activity, it is evident that the modern workplace is embracing the Engagement Culture. For our parents up until the last decade, it used to be that employee engagement would have been a list of on-site tasks or activities, usually in a conference room with a paid speaker or a video.

AI’s future impact in Talent Management Programs by Jackson David

Artificial Intelligence has been a topic of conversation for decades. You do not have to go too far back to see cinema that hinted at it in the 1940’s to films that pushed us out of our comfort zone for AI, like “Star Wars” and “Blade Runner”. As we think about AI from a sci-fi point of view, it is fun, innovative and entertaining.

From the office to the ocean: The Modernization of PTO (Paid Time Off) by Jackson David

There has been a lot of talks lately in the HR and Talent eco-system around paid time off (PTO), and to a further extent, the modernization of those policies that seem to be a new requirement from the up and coming workforce, such as Gen Z. The question has become, how do we as employers and leadership create modern PTO policies that attract top talent, offer them the benefit they seek, but still tie into the company culture as well as offering a stable environment for getting work completed? I think this can be achieved. Whether we like it or not, it is the trend that we see in the market I think due in part being led by the technology companies in Silicon Valley and the global mobilization of the workforce over the last twenty years.

Generation X & The Oregon Trail Generation: How will they save the future workplace? by Jackson David

The Oregon Trail Generation, ever hear of it? That’s OK, neither had I until I read more about it and quickly realized that I was part of it. Insert image of me having a hard swallow. It is also known as the “Forgotten Generation.” The sort of “skipped-over” group, small that it is, who found themselves with a beeper and a cell phone at University. Recently there was an article calling us “Xennials.”

Data VS. Knowledge...A Talent Dilemma? by Jackson David

People who know me know that I love data! For context, learning quick sound-bites, helping make clear decisions, guiding, influencing, and leading; it can be your best friend. But in today’s race for talent, there is an increasing focus around data, especially within Startups. Could it be clouding (or replacing?) the screen that we talent professionals and hiring managers should still have around the knowledge that comes from experiences. Startups could take a more in-depth look, earlier on.
