I've always loved books, and reading, and writing. As I grew up in the South in the 1960's and 70s, I remember filling up stacks of notebooks with stories, and sketches and poems. After I graduated with Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Communication, I launched a freelance writing career. That love for writing combined with my heart's desire to help overlooked people, led me to write for nonprofit organizations. It gave me opportunity to use my skills to help nonprofits help more people. I also have wanderlust that has led me to go into all the world, meet interesting people and experience new cultures first-hand. I found my niche working for nine years for She Is Safe, an international nonprofit that helps abused and enslaved women and girls. I traveled to Indonesia often to represent the work there. I went into villages, and brothels and homes, met the women, listened to their stories and poured them out through writing and editing blogs, letters, social media posts and stories. For almost two years, I served as the Communication Director for that organization. And now, I'm back where I started - as a freelance writer. I love the freedom to explore many more causes and people and cultures, and craft all of that into content that will help organizations help more people.
