A Lifetime of Aviation Knowledge and Experience at Your Fingertips...
I am a retired air traffic controller with 45 years of aviation experience. I started as a Student Pilot at 16 and I earned my Private Pilot's license at 17. I continued to train as a professional pilot in my 20s. I served in the U.S. Army as an air traffic controller and when I entered the National Guard after active duty, I flew as a flight medic on UH-1 helicopters.
In my late 20s, I was hired by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic control specialist; I also had collateral duties as an Aviation Safety Counselor. Through most of my adult life, I was a contributing aviation writer to publications such as Flying Magazine, Plane and Pilot, The Atlantic Flyer, The Pacific flyer, and Avweb. In 1999, I wrote and published, "Surviving the First 24 Hours of a Forced Landing." which is still sold on the Internet today. I am a frequent aviation contributor on Quora, where my aviation answers have received over 52,000 views and about 250 upvotes. I have written on many different subjects in many different forms, however, my true passion is writing about aviation.
I am now in my 60s and when I'm not writing, I operate a part-time business restoring antiques--hence, the name of my Website.
