Until recently, I worked as a high school teacher teaching grammar, literature, and history. As a history teacher who formed curriculum from the ground up, I learned to research thoroughly and efficiently. The best way to learn something is to teach it; as a grammar teacher, I have great command of English usage and punctuation. As a literature teacher, I spent much time reading and analyzing different works of beautiful poetry and narrative. I also learned to edit students’ work efficiently. As a teacher of more than a hundred students, I developed a high level of organizational skills. I have also worked for the past few months copy editing the yearbook.
When it comes to writing, I have coached my students and often created pieces for them as samples. I enjoy writing and write many different kinds of things: from critical essays, to stand-up comedy, to short stories and screenplays.
I express myself in a clearly and concisely. I learned this strength both as a teacher and as a student at a discussion-based college.
I have experience collaborating closely with coworkers or working independently and writing to a specific audience.
I currently work from home as a screenwriter, creating my own stories, as well as writing coverage for and editing others'.
