After earning a B.A. in Religion from the University of Georgia (1999) and spending a number of years working as a communications coordinator, I expanded my freelance work by moving into front-end web development and copywriting. I work primarily with small businesses and individuals to set up an online presence for their specific needs. While I have a great deal of experience in building sites from scratch with HTML and CSS, I currently work in WordPress. My experience includes setting up and maintaining sites including integrating e-commerce plugins as well as social media. This background has definitely helped me with technical writing. Since I have a solid understanding of how web development works, I am able to write about it in an informed way.
In the summer of 2017, after several years of work, I finished my M.A. in English from Louisiana Tech University. The program focused primarily on technical writing but also included courses in information design as well as various different types of literature. It was challenging, but it taught me how to focus and present information in a clear and concise manner. I will forever be grateful that I had the opportunity to go through that program.
