I aspire to inspire before I expire.

James L. Hester resides in Dallas, Texas. He performs spoken word by the stage name of Goldenchild.
He went to Lincoln Humanities & Communications High School and, upon graduation, attended Paul Quinn College, a HBCU, where he studied Elementary Education. There, he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. While enrolled there, he became a member of Scottish Rite Freemasonry.
James Hester seeks to share his spoken word and other writings as a means to minister to those in need of motivation and deliverance from life's struggles. James relates to this, as he came up from a very rough background, riddled with struggles from poverty and abuse, to name a few.
He has performed at various events in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, including, but not limited to: Life Through Art (L.T.A.), hosted by Phea Shelton Kennedy, We Give You Praise, hosted by Warnell Caldwell, and More Than A Woman: Free Versing For Freedom, hosted by Michael Guinn, to name a few.. More recently, James will be performing at the Culmination ceremony for the African American Network of Capital One Auto Finance in Plano, Texas.
In 2014, James was nominated for Best Up and Coming Artist for the North Texas Spoken Word Awards Gala.
“Life’s Love Letters, Vol.1: A Journey of Infatuation’s Growth into Love” is James’ first book containing a collection of original pieces that was written to capture his understanding and maturation of his understanding of love.
Today, James uses the inspiration and life lessons he's learned from his journey through life to serve as a ministry to all he comes in contact with.
