My writing skills were honed in the advertising industry where I was copywriter in top international agencies – Leo Burnett, J.Walter Thompson, McCann Erickson, Lowe Lintas and others. I left the Ad industry in the nineties to travel around the United States where I gathered experience as a freelance feature/travel writer. My credentials include The Asian Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Reader’s Digest, Going Places, The Star and many other local and international publications. I authored a bestselling travel coffee-table book on Malaysia published by one of the world’s largest publishers, New Holland (“Malaysia the Beautiful”). In 2000 I started my own video production company focusing on documentaries (Organic farming; History Channel documentaries (Secrets of the South China Sea); Treasures of the Nanhai). From late 2017 to 2019, I was the assistant producer/social media manager of a Malaysian theatre company, representing and promoting it physically and remotely. www.masakinitheatre.com.my From March to July 2020, at the start of the Covid lockdown crisis I was part of a global online collaborative residency of more than 50 plus artistes from around the world, creating what is going to be the ARTISTIC RESPONSE TO CORONA VIRUS experienced through an art film. Uprock “Excelsior” is the title of this film to be premiered in New York in 2021. From August to September 2020 I was the content writer for Malaysia’s first Virtual Arts Festival “Gerak Angin” responsible for the website and the YouTube video descriptions. www.gerakangin.com As content writer, I have conceptualized and written blog and feature lifestyle articles; provided website content; YouTube text; copy-written annual reports; e-brochures; e-blast texts and social media ads etc; and written drama skits for theatre.
