I have a BA in English and a BS in Education from Duquesne University. After I graduated from Duquesne and was unable to find a teaching position in a very local, oversaturated market, so I decided to do the logical thing - I went to nursing school.
Nursing wasn't a choice I made out of a passion for the work - it was a practical decision. That said, I have never regretted it. It ended up opening the doors to countless eye-opening experiences that have truly changed me as a person. I have always worked in pediatrics and have seen all levels of acuity - intensive care through transitional facilities to home care. I currently work as a private duty nurse for pediatric patients with chronic conditions.
As much as I love being a nurse, I couldn't quite turn off my passion for writing. I started freelancing in September of 2016 and haven't looked back. I have learned so much since then and am hoping to build this into a full-time gig.
