My name is Kristina and I am an American who has been living abroad since 2009. My first adventure began in Copenhagen, where I lived for eight seminal years. I then ventured south for two sun-drenched years in Barcelona and now live in picturesque Bremen, Germany.
I have an eclectic background which serves me well as a freelance writer. My Bachelor's Degree in Literature and Creative Writing built a solid foundation for my writing skills. I have a Master's Degree in Education, School Counseling. This degree and the work experience that followed shaped me both as a writer and as a person; working in counseling is demanding, emotionally taxing while, at the same time, rewarding. My work as a school counselor was writing intensive as I wrote upwards of 45 student references per school year. Serving teenagers and their families in a counseling role within an international environment has allowed me to see the world through a different lens – one with boundless compassion and a deep appreciation of the human spirit. My writing is fueled by this framework; my goal is to connect to people through my content regardless of the topic at hand.
During my two years in Barcelona, I was afforded the opportunity to be the sole freelance writer for two travel companies: BCN Travel and CityTrip. As I love traveling, writing about the travel industry is a natural fit. I want readers to feel engaged and excited about the enrichment travel can add to their lives. I also write a real estate blog for a travel agent in my Massachusetts hometown. In this blog, I explore the exciting adventures and hidden gems that await in New England, marketing the area for the real estate business. I have a proven track record in delivering results. Our marketing campaigns at BCN Travel, with my writing as the centerpiece, drove traffic to the website and boosted sales. My monthly blog posts reach over 300 readers and counting. I have a wealth of published work and continue to write for all three businesses.
I am seeking new and exciting work and believe I am currently suited to write about psychology, English literature, career counseling, education, higher education and travel. I look forward to expanding that list as I continue to learn more about new topics and industries and broaden my repertoire.
