Business/Finance Journalist and Content Strategist
Cutting through complexity is my speciality, honed through seven years of dedicated experience as a content strategist in financial services and B2B communications.
My ability to do ‘business without the boring’ was part of the reason I was recruited as a Presenter/Anchor for the launch of Ticker TV, reporting on global markets, economics, and the startup sector. In early 2020, Ticker remained as Australia's only dedicated business news channel. Think: Cheddar of Australia.
Armed with qualifications in Business/Communications, specialising in Journalism/Marketing, I’m focused on developing content strategy for leading brands across financial services (fintech and wealth management), professional services (tech and SaaS) and ecommerce (DTC). With domain expertise in finance, and a commercial understanding, it simply adds up to hire me.
As well as understanding language economics, I understand actual economics. Holding full-time positions across fintechs and business news divisions, I've spent a great deal of time interviewing leading investment professionals and fund managers on the topics of global markets, personal finance, and wealth management. Some hallmarks: Starting as the first Brand Storyteller at an Australian nonbank lender, and being the only Finance Journalist and Sub-Editor at Australia’s best-known publicly-listed asset manager.
Clarity comes before clever, however. I aim to deliver on the ‘soft sell’ while producing content that's actionable and ‘general’ in nature. In addition to launching video and podcast series — ‘Market Watch’ and ‘Property Point’ — I've also been entrusted with white papers for investors that require deeper financial analysis.
Demonstrating a capacity for deep research, I was recruited as a Research Assistant at Bond University early in my career. Soon after, I started as a Senior Journalist at Business News Australia, where I was also entrusted as the Editorial Coordinator for client work and branded campaigns. This role was both commercial and creative, reporting directly to the Group Editor. Clients included large-cap public companies, peak bodies in government and marketing, major retail companies, and a private university.
Part of the core team behind the Australian Young Entrepreneur Awards, our answer to 30 Under 30, I’ve developed a passion for writing about small business, startups, and entrepreneurship in general. I also script and host the events as MC in major capital cities for large corporate crowds. Through this process, I’ve forged relationships with business heavyweights and local thought leaders.
