Journalist and author Harriet Brown lived through what no parent of a teenage girl ever would hope to experience. Brown's 14-year-old daughter, Kitty, had an ongoing battle with anorexia that nearly destroyed her life. The ordeal is chronicled in Brown's book, Brave Girl Eating: A Family Struggle with Anorexia. The book describes the Browns' experience with a family-based treatment known as the Mosley approach in a gripping narration of a year in their lives as they help Kitty recover from near starvation. The book stemmed from an article in the New York Times Magazine.
It’s a new year, and as shows premiere for midseason that means that we can get ready for some renewal news, cancellations, and rumors of possible reboots. Here are some of the highlights for this week’s TV news wrap-up.

Sometimes an episode makes you step back and say, “Well, that was different.” Blindspot Season 4 Episode 12, “Careless Whisper,” is not so much about the characters we know and love, but fictional versions of them.
Blindspot Season 4 Episode 10, “The Big Reveal” is the kind of episode that will have you feeling like shiny peppermint candy one minute and stroking your chin and asking if everything you just found out is a lie.
Here it is, the episode where Madeline Burke solidifies herself as one of the scariest villains in Blindspot’s tenure. Blindspot Season 4 Episode 13, “Though This Be Madness, Yet There Is Method In’t” can’t exist without the talent of Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and her subtle brilliance.

The danger was always there, but Manifest Season 1 Episode 13, “Cleared for Approach,” puts it front and center. The biggest development on “Cleared for Approach” is the growing movement of the Anti-828ers who are now daring to ask if the passengers are even human.
The penultimate episode of Manifest Season 1 is surprisingly lackluster. On Manifest Season 1 Episode 15, “Hard Landing,” everything we knew about the callings is called into question, but it’s hard to wonder why this didn’t happen sooner? First, I have to praise the tight and very intimate storytelling on this episode. Melissa Roxburgh really gets to show off Michaela’s detective skills in the scenes with Griffin in the interrogation room.
Manifest Season 1 Episode 14, “Upgrade,” has several twists and turns, but manages to stay pretty level when it comes to surprises. First, let’s talk Jared and Michaela. We all knew the fact that they’d slept together would come out eventually, it was just a question of how. It’s disappointing to see Lourdes confront Michaela like this and to quickly reach her decision to leave. Lourdes is Michaela’s friend, and we saw previously that she spent five years leaving messages to a ghost.
Manifest is back, and they are setting up for an explosive back half of the season. Manifest Season 1 Episode 10, “Crosswinds,” sees some of the drama pay off and continues to get at the heart of the mystery as to what really happened on the plane. There’s a lot of slow burn and subterfuge in “Crosswinds,” but as the mystery gets deeper it feels like this is the only direction that the show could reasonably go in.
Manifest is continuing to work all the angles but still not bringing us any closer to an answer for what happened on Montego Air Flight 828. On Manifest Season 1 Episode 11, “KXTA,” we look at Captain Daly’s journey since the return and how the plane’s sudden appearance affected his life.
Well that was not what it looked like? Manifest Season 1 Episode 12, “Vanishing Point,” seemed like it was about Cal’s kidnapping, but pleasantly surprised us by twisting it into Cal pursuing a calling. “Vanishing Point” ties together a lot of ends from the last few episodes to bring the seasons to a conclusion.
