South African Multimedia Journalist/Writer/Content Producer
I'm an all-rounder, having worked in the South African media sector and with international organisations in the past ten years, mostly as a broadcast and multimedia producer. My multimedia skills are vast, from video or film production, podcasts, editing, writing, graphic, gifs, newsletters, press releases, images (photography) and program-related technical skills. I thrive both in teamwork and independently, while I consider myself an excellent creative who possess ethical journalistic skills including content writing, arranging or conducting interviews, packaging multimedia content that is consumer friendly and easy to access across mediums. Most of my experience comes from the broadcast environment, which has enabled me to produce more quality work under pressure and has given me the versatility to work across the private, political and social sector, but also different platforms using multimedia software programs, from project conceptualisation, coordinating, production to the final multimedia piece or storytelling to publishing.
Constantly I’m thinking and finding new ways of improving my work, questioning the status quo, increasing my knowledge, reading on current and past affairs, new books, other reading materials, studying digital skills online, attending workshops to improve myself. I fight injustices through my voice and strive to play a role in the world and others' development, as a passionate moderate liberal who believes in the wellbeing of the vulnerable, in democracy and equal human rights for all.
Since 2016 I've focused on setting up Deft PR to assist upcoming artists and startups with affordable pr, publicity, strategic communication and talent services, which include amongst other duties, events and social media managing.
