Mallory Carra is an award-winning journalist, editor, and screenwriter based in Los Angeles. Formerly, Mallory worked at Bustle for over 5 years. As Associate Entertainment Editor, she oversaw nightly and weekend coverage of entertainment and celebrity breaking news, while supervising a team of writers. Specifically, she managed Bustle’s daily entertainment news coverage of casting announcements, music releases, new movie and TV trailers, and celeb happenings, as well as attending LA-based junkets and set visits.

As a journalist and editor, Mallory has over 15 years of experience covering entertainment, celebrities, TV, food, lifestyle, real estate, sports, health, and academia. Before Bustle, she worked as a staff writer for the New York Daily News, The News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the Chattanooga Times Free Press in Tennessee. Mallory’s bylines have also appeared in Cosmopolitan, HuffPost, BuzzFeed, the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and the Columbia Journalism Review, among many others.

Excerpts of her work are featured in the New York Times bestselling book The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 and Teaching Stephen King: Horror, the Supernatural, and New Approaches to Literature. Mallory has appeared on-camera for BBC News and Bustle, along with providing radio commentary for the BBC World Service and WHYY. Additionally, she has been a podcast writer for Spotify’s Parcast Network and a copywriter on ad campaigns for Neutrogena, Toyota, and Guardian Life Insurance. Mallory’s work has received honors from the LA Scripted Comedy Festival, the Final Draft Big Break Contest, the Script Pipeline Screenwriting Contest, and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

A native of New York City, Mallory has an M.F.A. in screenwriting from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and a B.A. in journalism from New York University. She has studied business entrepreneurship and marketing at Santa Monica College and studied improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade and The Second City Hollywood. In her spare time, Mallory takes enjoys painting, random trivia, and blogging about food at Couch Potato Cook.
