Mary Shomon is the New York Times bestselling author of a number of popular consumer health books, and a nationally-recognized patient advocate and lay expert on health and wellness for two decades. Mary also has expertise in designing and implementing successful grassroots issues advocacy campaigns and social media programs for companies and political causes.

Mary combines high-level marketing and communications strategic planning skills, with expertise in research and interviewing, along with writing, editing, design, and production of print, web, collateral, and multimedia materials.

Mary's experience includes a decade in advertising and PR, where she served as Sr. Account Manager for advertising programs for IKEA and D/FW Airport, as well as marketing consultant to the World Bank, numerous companies, and professional/trade associations.

Mary serves as Patient Expert for HealthCentral.com since 2017, and served a similar role for About.com/Verywell.com for almost two decades, and has almost 1,000 health and wellness related articles online. Mary is also the co-star of two popular PBS specials on Healthy Hormones.
