Hi, I’m Matt. I’m a freelance Japanese to English translator, but I have recently decided to expand my services within the writing sphere. In my translation work, I specialize in creative writing for literature, but have experience in IFUs for medical equipment, informational brochures for hotels and restaurants, and in handwritten documents.
Many skills that I use in my day-to-day work with Japanese literature are invaluable in monolingual English writing as well.
•Nimbly manipulate sentence structure into an easy-to-understand or attention-grabbing pattern, depending on the purpose of the text •Control the register and tone of the text, changing it when necessary to suit the audience •Maintain awareness of cultural norms and expectations if the audience, omitting, adding, or editing content when necessary • Proofread and edit for grammar, punctuation, spelling, clarity, and logic
I hope to put my writing skills to use in the creative, hospitality, or instructional fields.
