I gravitate toward research/writing projects that give me the chance to explore uncharted realms, learn from resilient characters, ponder social dilemmas and uncover hypocrisies that we all share.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina with a BA in English, I took a job as the assistant director of one of the oldest private all-girls summer camps in New England -- it was in this capacity that I first realized I could write as a professional. After the owners sold the camp, I decided to transition into teaching. I baked biscuits at a successful local bakery while attending graduate school, and I was offered a teaching position at the school where I completed my internship. After spending several years in the classroom and completing doctoral coursework, I decided to begin my freelance writing career. My experiences have helped me come to an understanding of the power of language, and I want to use that power, in my personal and professional lives, to create progress.
