MINDY AFFRIME

A graduate of Washington University, with degrees in and English Literature and Political Science, she co-founded Godmother Productions (an independent film company) in San Francisco, which was involved in several films, including Tillie Olsen’s TELL ME A RIDDLE in 1981. Godmother’s goal was to fund and produce independent film and TV that were socially responsible. Mindy Affrime with her partners raised the 2 million dollar budget from individual investors all over the country. TELL ME A RIDDLE received numerous awards including best picture at the London Film Festival.

During this period, Ms Affrime also produced a series of bi-annual film seminars entitled SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ETHICS IN THE FILM BUSINESS to sell out crowds in the San Francisco area as well as in Hollywood, at the Warner Bros lot. The top businessmen, lawyers, agents and talent in the film industry participated in these highly popular events. In 1987 and 1988, Ms. Affrime moved to Los Angeles and worked as an independent producer at Atlantic Releasing in Los Angeles, where she was active in film development and financing

In 1989, she continued her independent producing by teaming up with Thom Mount (INDIAN RUNNER, BULL DURHAM, DEATH IN THE MAIDEN) to run his low budget division. In 1994, Ms. Affrime joined Academy Award winning director Roland Joffe (KILLING FIELDS) as an executive at his company, Lightmotive, Inc.

In 1995, Ms Affrime started up her own production company, MAP Films. In 1996, FEMALE PERVERSIONS marked the first production of MAP Films. FEMALE PERVERSIONS was written and directed by Susan Streitfeld and stars Tilda Swinton and Amy Madigan. With Siskel and Ebert bestowing ‘Two thumbs up’. As the producer, Ms. Affrime raised all the money through pre-sales from Europe and the States.

While working on various film projects, Ms. Affrime began to teach first as an instructor at the UCLA Extension Program, teaching Film Production, and then as a guest lecturer at USC Film School. She also became involved with different non-profits organizations such as Esalen, Friends of Tibet as well as Friends of the LA River and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). At NFTE, she assisted in creating a business plan as well as building a curriculum for teaching entrepreneurship to teenagers.

Her latest film production was GOLF IN THE KINGDOM from the best selling novel by Michael Murphy, starring David O’Hara, Mason Gamble, Malcolm McDowell and Frances Fisher. It took her 7 years to co-write the screenplay and finance the film. She raised 100% of the financing from sophisticated individual investors.

Currently, Ms. Affrime is working full time at www.affcreative.com as a content creator, and branding and marketing expert for various Global businesses and organizations. She is a freelancer with UPWORK (over 9000 hours) and is extensively writing original web content for online marketers, service companies, web/software developers, IT firms, e-stores, business consultants, digital ad agencies, etc. Her background as a storyteller really comes in handy as a copy writer. She is dedicated to utilizing language that is persuasive and conversational and always honors the 'voice' of the brand.
