Morgan McDowell

Senior content strategist and writer focusing on technology, marketing and media

I am a well-rounded media professional with 13 years of experience creating strategic communications programs for companies nation- and worldwide. I am a formally trained journalist with nearly a decade spent providing public relations support for companies in the digital media, marketing and technology industries, and the last four years spent focusing primarily on content strategy and creation as an independent consultant.

I previously served as director of strategic communications at blast! PR, where I developed strategies and created written materials that clearly communicated brand identity, value propositions and competitive differentiators while remaining aligned with overall strategy, goals and messaging. During my agency tenure, I also authored a regular targeting column in ClickZ under a client’s byline and, as an independent strategist and content creator, I have continued to work closely with executives to craft compelling, informative content that emphasizes thought leadership and delivers key messages in their own unique voices. My experience on both sides of the media coin gives me a unique perspective and ability to create content that is both strategic from a messaging perspective and newsworthy and searchable from an editor’s perspective.

Additionally, having spent the bulk of my career working with clients across the spectrum of media and technology, I have developed a comprehensive knowledge of that space, as well as the foundation necessary to address current news within the larger context of the history and evolution of the industry.

I am originally from North Carolina and I currently live and work in Chicago.
