Oliver O'Connell

Content Strategist, Copy Editor, Copywriter, Editor, Ghostwriter, Writer, Managing Editor

New York-based B2B writer specializing in financial services, global trade, development, banking and FinTech, with wide ranging newsroom experience across multiple topics.

I am an experienced writer and editor for print, digital, and social media, specializing in branded or sponsored content. Based in New York City for over nine years, I am Content Development Manager for TXF, focused on export, project, trade and commodity finance. In the past I have worked with freelance clients in content generation, marketing and public relations, with a particular interest in the financial services, FinTech, development, travel and real estate industries.

With a career in B2B publishing that began almost 15 years ago, I was also fortunate to spend time in a busy newsroom, as well as undertake extensive travel. My professional experience includes writing news items, feature articles and cover stories, curating sourced content, and creating client-led editorial and thought leadership pieces.

At Euromoney I helped build a solid online and social media presence for an industry-leading trade finance publication, and managed an editorial calendar to daily, weekly and monthly deadlines, managing both in-house staff and freelance writers. I also worked closely with both internal and external partners on editorial projects and events, helping generate $1 million in annual revenue in the Americas. In addition, I launched new products and channels for editorial content, as well as chairing conferences and moderating panel discussions - something that I continue to do at in-house and industry events to this day.

As a freelance writer, I have worked on both B2B and B2C projects for banks, consultancy firms, and industry groups. My time on the news desk at Mail Online's US headquarters provided me with invaluable experience in time sensitive stories read by an audience of millions.

TXF Development and Agency Finance 2018 Agenda.pdf

Washington, D.C. has long been a hub for multilaterals, development finance institutions, and other international organisations. That is why TXF returned to D.C. on April 18, to examine the increased activity at these development and investment agencies. This innovative one-day conference provided delegates with the chance to learn from industry experts, debate the changing nature of the market, and build on existing relationships. Our main aim was to help our guests identify where new business prospects can be found, and nurture new connections. There were plenty of opportunities for networking, in-depth discussion, collaboration, and frank analysis. TXF brought together MFIs, DFIs and ECAs, as well senior representatives from the commercial banking, legal, insurance, exporter, importer and project development sectors. If you want direct one-on-one access to top minds in development and agency finance, then this was a must-attend event.

The emergence of new technologies and game-changing innovations has seen the tapping of new pools of talent that have brought fresh perspectives to a once conservative sector. Now opportunities abound to truly disrupt the industry, with a goal to make processes simpler, faster, more efficient, and more secure. These changes will ultimately benefit corporate end-users, and TXF brought together 130 treasurers, risk managers, and supply chain specialists to share their experiences with technology, finance, and service providers. Our expert speakers were well received, our innovative session formats got people talking, and of course our networking activities put people in front of others they wanted to mingle with. Our attendees immersed themselves in: the latest developments in technology, working capital optimization, sustainability, regulation, risk mitigation, and cash management.
