My writing career began with the Associated Press and the Spokane Spokesman-Review after graduating from the Missouri School of Journalism. I then contributed to a variety of consumer magazines, trade publications, online outlets and marketing projects over eight years as an independent writer. These include Oregon Business magazine, Fortune.com, Executive Travel, Houston magazine and Nuclearstreet.com. I copy edited the trade journals Homeland Security Today and National Guard Today. At the same time, I authored newsletters, blog posts, case studies and website copy for small and mid-sized business clients.
