Hather (Hather Series Book 1)

In the year 2150, war looms over Canada, and one young musician looks to make a difference… Sixteen-year-old Roland Brody just wants to earn enough money to find his family, free them from the constraints of the ghetto, and give them the life they deserve. While working at La Bora, he meets his manager’s daughter—the beautiful and intriguing Cassandra Carter—and she inspires him to do more than simply play piano. As the fighting between Hather’s internal factions intensifies, Roland’s only goal is to become stronger, capable of protecting those he loves… When the Rogue Resistance infiltrates Hather and wreaks havoc on its citizens, Roland focuses on his defensive arts studies at King’s Academy. His ultimate plan is to join the main division of the Order, a group of knights tasked with defending the city. After a few encounters with the Rogue Resistance, Roland joins the Order’s tournament in an attempt to rise among their elite ranks. When it seems the odds are all against Roland, he slips into depression… Roland trains relentlessly with the intention of defending Cassandra under any circumstances, even if he has to die in the process. And his primary goal remains at the forefront of his mind—find his family and give them a better life. A safe life. A peaceful life. Despite his goals, Roland is drawn into a war that will tear him from Cassandra’s side. In the midst of war, will true love keep them together or tear them apart?
