There are few things in my life that I feel could be classified as my “drug.” These are the things that I want to put into a vial and inject into my veins. I have spent the past eleven years running in high school, college, and now recreationally to supplement my other passion: roller derby.

These two activities primarily fuel my physicality, but my mental stimulant is writing. I fell in love with writing like you fall asleep, slowly and then all at once. I wrote in high school and in the first couple of years of my college career for the necessary essay prompts in English classes. My junior year of college at the University of Iowa I surrounded myself with the Writer’s Workshop and PHD graduate students. It felt like a newspaper of my future, taken by the wind, hit me in the face with a title screaming, “This is what you were meant to do!”

Freelance Writing is the avenue through which I want to explore my career as a writer. The prospect of learning, analyzing, and showcasing multiple themes build on my ability to write about a myriad of topics in any type of professional writing. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to engage in the learning process necessary to be a successful and flexible freelance writer.
