Creativity will differentiate you from your competitors

As a creative director, my sine qua non is originality and boldness.

Your time is precious, so will avoid talking about traits that you are already expecting from a professional, like being passionate, dedicated or being able to work within a team. Instead, I will rather tell you that I can handle heavyweight clients and knockdown challenges. Work within timeframe so that your pulse won’t outpace the ticks of the clock.

I started my career at the Mauritius national TV station as a Video Editor. There is no greater satisfaction than sharing a passion, I had the opportunity to act as a lecturer after I left the MBC. Einstein once said, “If you can’t explain it to a nine-year-old kid, then you didn’t understand it well yourself”. Since a class full of nine years old students can be extremely difficult to handle, I opted for University students, they are less tumultuous.

I had the privilege to interact with a talented Creative Director from DDB Belgium named Peter Aearts, through social media. He told me something that changed my perception of creativity, ‘Ideas must have legs’. The works of a Creative Director must resonate.

Being part of RawPictures Ltd from 2014 to 2017 has enabled me to enhance my customers relationship experience. Who pays the piper calls the tune! The client knows his products/services better, so listening is more than fundamental.

I love innovative ideas. All great achievements of mankind started with a simple idea. In our digital era, creativity is a key factor in finding new ways to communicate astutely. Good use of creativity will not only attract attention but can also encapsulate core messages.

One of my favorite quote is by Alan Kay, “The best way to predict the future is to invent it”. I firmly believe that we can craft our destiny at some level. My leitmotiv is to think like a pro while having the heart of a novice, as humility is fundamental, it keeps us down to earth. I love experimenting and breaking rules, for me audiovisual is visual poetry.
