Shannon is General Counsel of Hunter Companies, a design-build commercial construction and real estate development firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Prior to this, Shannon was a shareholder at Bradley & Riley PC, a full-service law firm in Cedar Rapids, where she represented a wide range of real estate and business clients.
Shannon graduated With Distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in Iowa City, Iowa with a Juris Doctor degree, where she was a member of the Journal of Transactional Law and Contemporary Problems. Her 30 page article, "The 1998 Russian Federation Family Code Provisions on Intercountry Adoption Break the Hague Gridlock: What Next? An Analysis of Post- Ratification Ramifications on Securing a Uniform Process of International Adoption", was published in 9 Transnat'l L. & Contemp. Probs. 703 (1999). Shannon's article is cited in over a dozen later works.
Shannon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Iowa, where she was a member of the A. Craig Baird Debate Forum.
Shannon has written a variety of articles about the use of technology in the practice of law. These articles are published on her blog, Play Legal, and in Techno Lawyer, a subscription-based online publication for readers in the legal profession.
