My birthplace is Berlin, Germany. My family immigrated when I was seven, landing in Fort Myers, Florida. Later we moved to the Florida panhandle, a little town called Havana--which has two stoplights and is about 15 miles north of Tallahassee. After graduating from high school, I attended Florida A&M and then Florida State University, where I received my B.A. and then my M.A. in English, with an emphasis on writing. My wife and I then moved to Washington state, where we had our daughter. We taught at the community college level. My wife, a gypsy at heart, wanted to move again (she also suffered from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), so we wound up in North Carolina. We love the college town we live in because of the cultural activities available to us. Our daughter is a bread baker, and in my spare time I like to read, play chess, and write.
I have spent the past thirty years involved in writing and teaching. My experience includes the following:
-- teaching writing at the community college level, both in Washington state and North Carolina. Courses taught include business writing, introductory composition courses, and creative writing. --editing several college-level grammar texts --writing a grammar curriculum for middle school
My experience and background makes me confident that I can successfully take on writing, editing, and proofreading tasks.
