Currently, I work as a technical writer for an academic research group that provides technical support, specialized research, and policy reccomendations for the state of New York on the juvenile justice system. My work requires me to be comfortable using Tableau for data visualization, basic graphic design tools to produce factsheets, reports, and issue briefs, and be comfortable researching a myriad of different specialty topics. I have worked as a technical writer for both public and corporate clients, ghostwritten articles for general public consumption, tutored students working on both undergraduate and graduate degrees, and am very comfortable with data visualization.
The substance of much of my writing can be traced back to an analysis of content published in major medical, economic, and political journals. Not only am I able to access, sift through, and describe the meaning of this content in layman's terms, but I find that with everything I produce I focus on making it an enjoyable experience. I have experience drafting help documents complete with clear photos, producing business requirements documentation, and more. The experience taught me the merits of breaking down each project to its core, then rebuilding with the target audience's specific branches of knowledge in mind to create work that is both comprehensive and engaging.
In my freelancing career, I have a history of publication with Rooster Magazine, Skirt Collective, and Autostraddle. I have extensive experience in tutoring students in topics ranging from law to anthropology, sociology to statistics.
