Surgical Physician, Veteran, Teach for America Alumnus
Having majored in biochemistry during my undergraduate education I gained a deep satisfaction trying to learn the intricacies of matter and energy. I broadened my horizons by developing a hobby as an amateur astronomer and have significant interests
Following college I worked as a high school teacher in Teach For America for three years. During this time I honed my teaching skills and created curricula related to science education. In addition I developed a deep understanding of education inequality, race relations, and community activism. During the same time I taught test prep for many big name companies, including writing textbooks, question banks, and educational videos that are still used by tens of thousands of students each year.
I am currently an early career physician and service member with a broad array of interests and desires. I have experience as a surgeon in military medical facilities, rural healthcare centers, major county hospitals, level 1 trauma centers, and integrated healthcare systems like Kaiser-Permanente. This has given me a broad array of experience in healthcare marketing, developing patient education materials, quality assurance, and healthcare education.
I trained at 'America's Medical School', working with the greatest minds and developing innovative surgical techniques, all while caring for those in harm's way. I have a passion for public service as a service member and intend to work with rural communities promoting healthcare outcomes one day. I would love to share this passion for public service through my writing.
I am fairly selective about the topics I write about. But if my broad experiences provide the insight for your project, then I would love to learn more.
