William Ochola

William Ochola is a highly successful general manager and senior business leader who has built a reputation for delivering broad transformative change across a range of markets, organisations and functions in mobile money Space MNO,MVNO,MPESA. In his current role as Head Of Mobile Money –Agent Network Rollout will be responsible for the Financial inclusion in Nigeria

William has been within Mobile Money space for 12 years – He joined Safaricom PLC (Mpesa) in 1st March 2007 and led a massive and radical change programme in the Sales and commercial agenda in western Kenya to reposition the business for growth for both Mpesa and telco business.

Led the strategy function with responsibility for strategy development for both the Equity bank Group and its subsidiary Finseve Africa and had significant involvement in the development of a new strategy for thin SIM/MVNO from March 1st 2015 driving for strategy execution like “shop in Shop”. One of the major outcomes was the development of the famous Equitel mobile voice brand (MVNO) - which was to become the one of the most successful innovations for Equity Bank in Africa

William then moved on to the role of Country Advice with IFC-World bank Ghana as Agent/Merchant digital specialist Africa in February 1st 2107. In role, he was recognized as a vibrant and engaging regulators in the industry, particularly adept at leading agent banking for Cal Bank in Ghana and organizational transformations through tough external operating conditions and competitive landscapes to deliver superior performance and value creation for agent banking in Ghana.

William studied Bachelor of Arts Education (history and Business at the University of Nairobi and holds an MBA from the same university.
