Science-based, fact-based writing, nourished by experience and critical thinking
Greetings from the Land of 10,000 Lakes!
I’ve been a freelance writer since 2009. I have written on various health, food, and pet topics based on my education and work experience. My work has included thorough research with reliance on primary and authoritative sources. I am well-acquainted with the scientific literature to bring solid sources for anything I write.
My motto with all of my writing is “Science-based, fact-based writing, nourished by experience and education.”
I also have a B.S. in biology and have teaching experience. My education has given me valuable insights into research and content creation. As a teacher, I prepared my lectures and tests. I always made myself available to my students to help them succeed. Furthermore, I have self-published six books, including one fiction title.
My 15 years of experience with the US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources allowed me to discuss complex habitat restoration and conservation topics with various audiences. I worked with volunteers to organize multiple restoration projects. I also conducted tours and gave presentations at different venues, including schools and clubs.
I'm applying for this writer position to gain more experience with different topics and audiences. I love researching and learning more. Writing isn't just a job for me. It's my passion.
