I'm not retired, but I write about it -- all the time. I spent 6 years covering retirement for Bankrate.com and I've also covered the topic for a variety of other publications, including Huffington Post, The Hartford Insurance, AllState Insurance, Royal Bank of Canada, Discover.com and AOL's WalletPop,
I have written for Investor's Business Daily's technology section, and for a couple of years, I edited a weekly newsletter for McGraw-Hills' construction website, ENR.com.
I've also contributed recently to MLive.com, The New York Post, Agence France-Press, HGTV, the National Association of Realtors, Newsweek, Better Investing, Sunset Custom Publishing, McMurry Custom Media, Crain Communications, Imagination Publishing and the New York Times marketing department.
I publish a weekly subscription newsletter and online community, FreelanceSuccess.com, whose members are former staffers for newspapers and magazines who now freelance for a living. The mission of Freelance Success is to help subscribers figure out how to make a good living from their editorial skills.
My specialties include fast-turnaround coverage of news of all sorts. I've developed knowledge and experience writing about the automotive industry by virtue of living in Detroit and covering the topic for several years for Newsweek Japan. I've renovated a half-dozen houses and worked with an architect and a contractor to build one from the ground up. For seven years, I edited a daily newsletter for members of the National Association of Realtors. I'm also knowledgeable about insurance and write frequently for a variety of business clients about that topic.
