Philip Freed was born in 1989 in Santa Cruz, California. Philip discovered his passion for surfing at an early age and eventually decided to pursue his love of the sport by moving to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he currently lives. Renowned to serious surfers worldwide, Puerto Rico is home to a number of Freed's favorite surf spots. Philip competes internationally but primarily enjoys surfing for recreation. With over 20 years’ experience surfing and more than ten years of experience teaching people to surf, Philip Freed is one of the most sought-after surfing instructors in Puerto Rico. Freed teaches surfing classes by appointment on Playa Aviones. His favorite place to spend time and relax is Cerro Gordo. When he's not surfing, Philip enjoys playing guitar, spending time with his friends, writing and volunteering in the local community.
