Tips & Tricks for a Happier and Healthier Lifestyle
In March of 2014, I tore my hip cartilage while playing golf at a networking event. It left me on a cane for 6 months and in physical therapy for over a year. After a year of recovering, my body suffered from the stress of running my own photography business while I was injured. I then suffered a nervous breakdown in June of 2015 which led me to incessant panic attacks. I could barely walk without blacking out. Before all this even happened, there were red flags to warn me that my health was on the decline but I ignored them thinking I had to hustle my way through life.
Now that I’m back to work, I’m both excited and nervous. The big question is, can I trust myself to take care of myself when the going gets tough or will I give into overwhelm? The answer is yes, I can trust myself! I’ve spent the past few years learning from my mistakes, changing my ways and doing some deep inner work. These are just a few things I’ve learned along the way.
Conscious Living, also known as mindfulness or self-awareness, is the act of being fully aware of oneself and one's surroundings. Sounds like common sense, but in our busy world, it can be difficult to be fully present all of the time. So often, we get distracted by worries over the future or bogged down by memories of the past. These constant distractions are a major cause of anxiety.
For someone who has struggled with self love most of her life, I am very passionate about the topic. I know, that healthy self love has the power to change your life, from your health to relationships to your career to how you feel on a moment to moment basis. Practicing self-care has helped me learn to love myself in a way that offers a sense of internal peace in this often stressful and tumultuous world. There are many methods of self love, and the key to them all is to listen to what your heart desires. It’s time to give yourself permission to love yourself more, and you can start by adding these five self-care techniques into your daily routine.
